Visual candlelight held last Sunday
Thousands of law enforcement officers and their families gathered at the National Mall to participate in this year’s torchlight procession. The event was held to honor those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
It’s a major blow to fans of the hip-hop festival, which was originally announced in February and went on sale shortly thereafter. The reason given for the cancellation was due to unforeseen circumstances.
Hive Music Festival
Less than three weeks before its scheduled start, the Hive Music Festival was canceled and nobody seems to know why. The hip-hop event was set to take place in June at Utah State Fairpark, and Post Malone and Kid Cudi were set to headline. Other artists scheduled to perform included Joji, Big Sean, Santa Fe Klan, Denzel Curry and Glorilla. It was produced by C3 Presents who have helped produce renowned festivals such as Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo alongside Live Nation.
While no official reason has been given for the cancellation, there are rumors that some sort of conspiracy is involved. For example, some believe the festival was put on hold due to low ticket sales or a disagreement between organizers and artists. Others say it could be a simple case of mismanagement. In any event, those who purchased tickets through Front Gate Tickets will be automatically refunded within 30 days. The organizers have promised to announce further steps in the coming days.
Festival of traveling artists SLC
Thousands of police officers, family members and friends gathered at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC on Saturday night for the 35th annual Candlelight Vigil. This year, the names of 556 fallen law enforcement officers were added to the list.
The Hive Music Festival was scheduled to take place June 9 and 10 at the Utah State Fairpark, with headliners Post Malone and Kid Cudi. Other artists were to include songwriter Joji, Big Sean, Santa Fe Klan and Glorilla. Organizers cited “unforeseen circumstances” for the cancellation, but there was speculation that something more sinister was at play.
In its simplest form, buskers are street performers who entertain for tips. During Busker Fest, the block surrounding the Eccles Theater transforms into an open-air stage for musicians, dancers, jugglers, performance art and comedy acts. Admission to the event is free, but suggestions to support the artists are encouraged. For a complete list of shows, visit the Busker Fest website.
Utah Blues Festival
Utah has embraced modern styles like EDM and dance, but is also deeply proud of its historic American roots. The blues has seen a resurgence and is celebrated in venues surrounded by the state’s dramatic red rocks.
This year’s lineup features local artists Annika Chambers, Terrie Odabi and Samantha Fish along with national headliners Kenny Neal and Rod Piazza and The Mighty Flyers. The event will take place Friday and Saturday at the Gallivan Center in Salt Lake City.
