The leading technology platform for online publishers is committed to climate action as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program and offsets the global operations and server emissions used by its 35,000+ network domains.
SAN DIEGO– (BUSINESS WIRE) – #AI— Ezoic, an AI-driven digital publishing technology platform and a founding member of Tech Zero in the United States, a group of technology companies committed to climate action, has recently acquired and invested in a clean Zero carbon footprint. In three high-impact projects that actively remove carbon dioxide from the Earth’s atmosphere. Ezoic has successfully offset the annual carbon dioxide emissions generated by its operations around the world, as well as servers that host more than 35,000 customer domains that use the website as a money-making platform.
In 2021, Ezoic launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program and committed to supporting two of the 2015 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Climate Action and Quality Education) with more than 300 Ezoic employees worldwide.
Ezoic began reducing single-use plastic by composting food waste, recycling broken electronics, and donating to the Ocean Foundation-certified Blue Carbon program. As Ezoic overcame its “carbon neutrality” rating earlier this year, it pushed the company to achieve Net Zero.
Ezoic teamed up with Supercritical to calculate its overall carbon footprint, serving a network of online publishers with a collective customer base of more than 1.3 billion visitors each month, according to Quantcast. Ezoic invested in three high-impact programs to remove carbon dioxide certified by Supercritical from the atmosphere. These include an East African forest program, a biochar project focused on clean negative technologies that remove carbon on an industrial scale, and an enhanced weathering project, one of the first large-scale trials of improved terrestrial weathering.
A recent IPCC report confirmed that along with ambitious cuts, carbon sequestration is essential to meeting the climate goals of the Paris agreement. As a technology platform company, most of Ezoic’s emissions are located in Area 3 (activities that Ezoic does not or does not control) from the emissions of domain servers it serves worldwide. Ezoic intends to continuously evaluate suppliers that are in line with its reduction plan.
According to Dwayne Lafleur, founder and CEO of Ezoic, “CSR corporations use their capabilities and resources to impact them. They can be larger projects, but they are also simple things that, if done by each company, would drive real change.”
Now that Ezoic’s emissions are Net Zero, Emily Brennan, Corporate Social Responsibility Director, says Ezoic can also help its customers have an impact on climate action.
“We are planning a calculator to help our customers calculate their overall carbon footprint and allow them to buy carbon removal credits themselves. Our long-term goal is to be a Net Zero vehicle for all digital publishers,” says Brennan. “It can be awesome to think of ways for individuals to mitigate the world’s biggest challenges, but corporations like ours have the resources and network to make an impact. Our CSR goals are to promote climate action and to develop educational programs that help people start their online business. ”
