Consumer Search Trends Increase in March, According to New Rio SEO Findings

Data from more than 170,000 GBP listings saw a substantial increase in travel and consumer spending in March.

, /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Rio SEO, a leading provider of all-in-one local marketing platforms proven to increase online visibility, released a nationwide consumer search behavior last month revealing the first consecutive increase across all verticals in total searches, total views business listings, and total clicks on month-to-month (MoM) business listings in 2022.

Hotel and healthcare brands experienced the biggest gains in Google Search trends month-on-month. Hotels experienced a 27% increase in total views, a 31% increase in total searches, a 17% increase in website conversions, and a 31% increase in clicks for directions, MoM. Additionally, healthcare brands experienced a 24% increase in total views, a 27% increase in total searches, a 22% increase in website conversions, and a 28% increase in clicks for directions.

According to Park Hotels & Resorts, occupancy for forty-eight Park hotels across the country was up 63%, a substantial increase of more than ten percentage points compared to February, continued Rio SEO’s findings. Group bookings for the remainder of 2022 tripled in March, increasing by 200,000 rooms per night, up from about 63,000 rooms in February.

The eight verticals studied collectively experienced an increase in local search behavior from month to month, on average as follows:

“We saw the impact of the omicron variance lessons as nearly every vertical and metric improved from the downward trend during January and February,” said Ryan Weber, director of client success, Rio SEO. “One of the biggest improvements across all verticals was clicks for directions, which shows that consumers are willing and able to engage directly with shopping, dining and travel. Additionally, March typically sees an increase in travel and dining out with spring break and March Madness.”

In addition, Rio SEO reviewed year-on-year trends, seeing continued increases in list views and searches across most verticals. Hotels, service businesses, fast food restaurants, health care brands, and sit-down restaurants collectively saw increases in both total searches and total views. Collectively, the verticals look at:

“Rising prices for essential items such as food, energy and travel costs may have contributed to the year-on-year decline seen in retail search metrics,” Weber added. “It will be interesting to see how local search and spending trends are affected in the coming months by inflation, volatile oil prices, and rising interest rates. The economy has seen a lot of momentum recently and consumer confidence appears to be underpinned by strong employment growth. . We have high hopes that local businesses will be able to thrive throughout 2022.”
