Pearson recently announced two major updates to the English language proficiency exam, PTE Academic. From November 16, the duration will be reduced to two hours. Honeywell launches centers of excellence for skills
The Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF) recently entered into a three-year partnership with the ICT Academy to create centers of excellence for skills development in 50 colleges across the country. A new study commissioned by Lenovo and Microsoft recently found that students and educators see huge potential in online learning, but are still beginning to enjoy its advantages. Cuemath report on the deteriorating teaching of Mathematics during the pandemic
Cuemath recently commissioned a study with market research firm AC Nielsen to highlight the learning challenges faced by students during the pandemic. It was designed to understand parents ’perceptions and concerns in their children’s learning. About 1,200 samples, divided equally between cities and grades, were collected over six meters: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, and Hyderabad, for Grades 1-12. According to the survey, one in four parents of students up to the fifth grade believe that the learning loss is severe in Mathematics in the last 18 months. The study also highlights 44% of parents reported fear of Mathematics as a prominent factor for learning loss. In addition, six out of 10 parents feel that improved classroom learning methods such as interactive videos, game-based learning, and DIY activities from either schools or EdTech platforms are solutions to address this problem.

IIT Roorkee contributes to confirming cosmic clocks, runs virtual convocation
The Indian Pulsar Timing Array (InPTA) team of astronomers recently discovered unprecedented changes in radio pulsar with the help of a very versatile, sensitive and up-to-date Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (uGMRT). The InPTA is a collaboration of Indian and Japanese astronomers from several institutes, including IIT Roorkee. Earlier this year, InPTA became part of an international collaboration aimed at capturing the eloquent gravitational waves of the nanohertz. The results of this project were recently published as letters in monthly announcements of the Royal Astronomical Society.
