The founder of Philadelphia-based digital marketing agency SEER Interactive will open an office in San Diego in May, primarily to recruit talented West Coasters. While the move wasn’t entirely spontaneous, the company wanted to be hands-on and wanted to find a location with a strong tech industry community. The CEO wanted a place where he could be an active CEO and still have access to easy flights and great Wi-Fi.

SEER Interactive’s headquarters in Philadelphia is located inside an old church. I wonder what they dream up for the San Diego office. The company is still finalizing the office space.
Northern Liberties SEER Interactive online marketing agency continues to grow.
This summer, it opened another office in Northern Liberties to accommodate staff growth, and this May, it looks west. SEER Interactive will open an office in San Diego to “tap into West Coast talent” and be closer to its customers across the country, spokeswoman Stephanie Beadell said. “One of the main reasons we decided to launch the San Diego office is that great people wanted to work with us, but couldn’t get to Philadelphia,” said Beadell. “We decided to approach them.”
Initially, four SEER employees will relocate to the San Diego office, and CEO Wil Reynolds will be in San Diego for three months to oversee the launch, Beadell said. The new office will focus on SEO at first, but Beadell said he has plans to expand into pay-per-click and analytics by 2014.
And why San Diego? Practicality, said Beadell. The company narrowed it down by looking at factors like the location of airports and which cities had direct flights to Philadelphia with Wi-Fi.
SEER currently has 58 full-time employees, Beadell said, up from nearly 50 last August.
Updated 6/2/13 at 11:17 AM m. to reflect that SEER is no longer an SEO shop, but rather an online marketing agency that does more than SEO.
