Bachmann, former CEO and founder of digital agency 1SEO, was recently interviewed by Philadelphia Magazine about John Fetterman’s campaign and their dominance of digital search results. A Google search for Oz will bring up a ton of Fetterman’s paid ads topping the charts.
Bachmann didn’t hold back when asked for his opinion on the matter. “You just have to offer the highest possible proper name to make sure it always shows up first,” he said. “It just shows you how behind the times some people are and how [obscenity] some of these campaigns are doing their job.”
Bachmann also said he believes modern political campaigns are not harnessing the power of the digital sector to influence the outcome of the race. “I told you these people are [obscene], man,” says Bachmann. “Their campaign managers raise all this money and lose. Obama and Trump had two of the best digital campaigns of our lifetime.”
Bachmann’s comments come after a report in Philadelphia magazine that (depending on your Google search history, ad blockers, and personal device) shows a slew of ads against Dr. Ozu, directing users to John Fetterman’s campaign website. These ads appear in a huge number of the most controversial places in the search results.
On the contrary, if the campaign of dr. Oza spent more campaign resources to bid on certain keywords, you could see those negative ads buried deeper in the search results. “The other side of Google is the best place to hide a dead body,” jokes Bachmann. “I did it for a famous rapper. I also did it for some Philadelphia restaurateur who had a lot of negative information about him.”
